Love Does: Discover A Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World

By Bob Goff

Published by Thomas Nelson 2012

Love Does has had a lot of hype over the last couple weeks. I was excited to have a copy in my own hands and see if this book was as good as the promises.

The Author has led and interesting life, and this book is a result. After opening the first page, I could not put the book down. I could easily see why Goff’s friends encouraged him to write a book, he does have a lot to say.

This isn’t another Christian self help book. It is a story, a story of what happens when one person decides to follow their heart and live out their love. It is a pageturner. I sat down and read the book over two days. That doesn’t happen often. From the first chapter I was hooked.

Goff has led an interesting life, as the back cover states:

“As a college student he spent 16 days in the Pacific Ocean with five guys and a crate of canned meat. As a father he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. He made friends in Uganda, and they liked him so much he became the Ugandan consul. He pursued his wife for three years before she agreed to date him. His grades werent good enough to get into law school, so he sat on a bench outside the Deans office for seven days until they finally let him enroll.

Bob Goff has become something of a legend, and his friends consider him the worlds best-kept secret. Those same friends have long insisted he write a book. What follows are paradigm shifts, musings, and stories from one of the worlds most delightfully engaging and winsome people. What fuels his impact? Love. But its not the kind of love that stops at thoughts and feelings. Bobs love takes action. Bob believes Love Does.

When Love Does, life gets interesting. Each day turns into a hilarious, whimsical, meaningful chance that makes faith simple and real. Each chapter is a story that forms a book, a life. And this is one life you dont want to miss.

Light and fun, unique and profound, the lessons drawn from Bobs life and attitude just might inspire you to be secretly incredible, too.”

I found myself unable to stop reading and see next what does love do. It is a quirky book and one that I would love to share with friends. A perfect book to read in these warm summer days. Goff has urged me to action and to act out of love. I hope that he will do the same for you.
