This was a powerful book that engaged me. At first I thought this was going to be one of those books that just highlights what celebrities have done and supported. I was very surprised as I only recognized three people within the book. The author took everyday people for the most part who decided to do what they could to make a difference. This was combined with the gospel of Mark, as Jesus was the original Mark maker.
I think the book just highlights that we each need to find a way in which we can make our mark in the world. I was hoping for better photographs, considering the author is a “celebrity photographer”. The book did not hold my visual interest. The stories however held my interest. I wish that the book had a little more substance, but I think it would be a good jumping off point to take one of the stories to start talking about in a small group.
I would use this book in a small group setting to start a discussion, but I would not be able to do a book study with this book. I found it lacking in substance.
